I just joined. What do I do?

Welcome to Orth, the city surrounding the abyss. The abyss is a hole in the middle of the city that is thousands of blocks deep. In it you’ll find mystical creatures and surreal landscapes. To go to the abyss, follow the pink arrows on the floor from the spawn location. Alternatively, walk down the slope that the city is built on. The goal of the game is simply to explore the map and to try and get to the city of Idofront at the bottom of the abyss. Some people also decide to build a house. The abyss is divided into 5 layers. Each layer is progressively more dangerous.

How do I prevent losing all my progress when I die?

When you die you'll respawn in Orth. That is, unless you craft a bonfire.

Essential commands

  • /kms (“kill myself”) kills you and you respawn at your bonfire (or in Orth if you don’t have one).
  • /orespawns links to a website that shows the ore drop rates for mining stone in every layer
  • /villagertrades links to a website that shows all of the villager locations in Orth and their trades
  • /packy send If the custom resource pack doesn’t load for you, use this command to reload it.
  • /local (or /l) Switch to local chat. Chat messages in local chat can only be read by players in a 500 block radius from you.
  • /global (or /g) Switch to global chat. Chat messages in global chat can be read by everyone.

What should I really know before I start exploring?

  • There are no ways to prevent fall damage. Even falling in water or using boats damages you.
  • Going under flowing water damages you.
  • Jump into the void at the bottom of the map to go to the next map section to continue going down.
  • Ascending 10 blocks triggers a set of debuffs called “the curse”. Curse effects get worse the deeper you go.
  • You don’t need to use blocks to pillar up. You can climb up instead! To start climbing, hug a wall, and right-click it. A stamina bar should appear. You can then use space to ascend and shift to descend as long as you stick to the wall. By left clicking while climbing you can even dash!

Trading with villagers in Orth

Do /villagertrades to find the location and trades of every villager in Orth. Get Orth Coins (OC) by trading mob drops with the villager “Boy, Lord of Currency” at the Golden Bridge in the west of Orth. Trade your OC with other villagers in Orth for other items.
